From Frozen Shoulder to Full Range of Motion: A Simple, Real Story of Recovery
This client, Chris, lived with shoulder pain for more than three years. His left shoulder felt seized and “knotted.” He could only move it past a certain point if he used his other arm to lift it. Over time, his right shoulder started to compensate, which led to a sharp, burning pain shooting down his arm. Everyday life got harder. He couldn’t put on a coat or even swing his dressing gown over his head. Training—the thing that once made him feel confident—was off the table.
He tried six physio sessions and even got an injection that eased the pain for just a few weeks but the pain came back. What finally helped was a specialized, movement-based program that focused on breathing and mobility. It felt weird at first. Some of the wall exercises seemed impossible. But with patience and proper breathing—inhale, exhale, relax—he started to move further, pinch deeper, and roll his shoulder more freely.
What He Was Dealing With
Chris loved training, but he admits he likely hurt himself by going in heavy without warming up. His left shoulder locked up first. The right shoulder followed, trying to help the left, until it fired sharp, shocking pain down his arm—totally different from the stuck, knotty pain on the left.
The loss wasn’t just physical. He missed feeling good in his body. Not being able to train knocked his confidence. Even simple moves, like lateral raises or reaching behind him, were out of reach.
What He Tried Before
He did the “right” things: multiple physio visits and a cortisone injection. The injection worked for 3–4 weeks, then wore off. The physio exercises felt generic—“do this, do this, do this”—and didn’t match what was really going on with his shoulders. He didn’t feel heard, and he didn’t get better.
So, What Finally Worked?
Our virtual shoulder rehab program dug into how he actually moved. It taught him to pair movement with proper breathing. At first, everything felt awkward. One drill by the wall nearly sent him off balance. But he stuck with it. As his breathing improved, his movement opened up. He started to realize these weren’t just strength drills—they were ways to teach his body how to move again.
He went from “I can’t do that” to “My body can do that—I just hadn’t been able to before.”
Results and Impact
- He can now lift his arm all the way overhead, up to the 12 o’clock position.
- He can reach both arms back with ease—something he couldn’t do during his initial assessment.
- Daily life is easier: he can put on his dressing gown and coat without pain or help.
- He’s ready to get back to training and is even thinking about taking up golf.
- Most importantly, he feels like himself again—more mobile, more confident, and no longer stuck.
Why This Succeeded When Other Treatments Didn’t
This approach didn’t mask pain, rather, it addressed how he moved his shoulders. It didn’t hand him a standard list of exercises but instead, followed a tailored plan to both shoulders, taught him to breathe through movement, and helped him push through the “weird” phase until things clicked. Every day wasn’t perfect, but he kept going, and it paid off.
In His Words
“I couldn’t have done it without you, mate. I really appreciate all your support… You fixed me. Thank you, and thank your team for all the support and the app and all the information you’ve shared. I am really grateful.”
A Note to Anyone With Shoulder Pain
If your shoulders aren’t working the way you want—and nothing has helped—Chris’s story shows there’s hope. With the right guidance, patience, and a focus on breathing and movement quality, real change can happen. As he puts it: “Literally, just go for it.”
