Here’s How Ted Beat Bicep Tendonitis That Stopped His Lifting Before

By Published On: October 20, 2026

Ted is the kind of guy who works out most days of the week. Lifting isn’t just a hobby for him. It’s part of how he stays sane. So when a nagging pain in the front of his right shoulder refused to go away, it didn’t just slow down his training. It took away a big piece of his normal life.

What Caused It?

The diagnosis was bicep tendonitis on one side of his right shoulder. Ted believes it came mostly from overtraining, plus some bad compensation and poor form on a couple of lifts. Before he found us, he did everything he could think of to fix it. He iced it a lot, used heat, tried self-massage to get blood flowing, and stuck with mobility work every single day. He even signed up for a virtual PT program run through an AI app.

“All the time that I had been putting into lifting before, I put into rehab, and I had absolutely nothing to show for it for over a month,” he said.

The app was the most disappointing part. No real person was watching him move or adjusting anything. Ted made a tiny bit of progress, then hit a complete plateau. His worst moment came on a day when his shoulder felt good enough to try a very light knee push-up. For the next two days, the pain was intense. Going from lifting heavy to struggling with a knee push-up left him frustrated and far from optimistic.

The Turning Point

Ted came to us out of desperation, as he put it. He was a little unsure whether online care could work without someone physically feeling where the tightness and soreness were. But our YouTube videos gave him confidence that we specialized in this kind of shoulder pain and had helped people in similar situations. He decided it was worth taking the plunge.

What stood out to him early was the communication. He’d send a message at 9:30pm on a weeknight and get a reply within five minutes. Instead of waiting a week between in-person visits and trying to remember how something felt, he got immediate feedback. If an exercise hurts, we try something different and when he was ready, we pushed things up.

The real breakthrough came in the last three weeks. After a setback, we took a couple of days to recalibrate. Then he did a few push-up variations along with some pulling work, and woke up the next day with no pain. Because he’d been coached that recovery isn’t a straight line, the setback didn’t throw him off. “I felt like, wow, we really turned a corner here,” he said.

What Changed And Why It Worked?

For Ted, the difference was how personal the plan was. Every exercise, along with the reps, frequency, and number of days per week, was chosen based on his feedback. Nothing was there just because a standard protocol said so. That steady feedback loop is what good physical therapy for shoulder pain should look like.

What He’d Tell Someone With The Same Shoulder Issue

If you’ve tried other things and they’ve failed, Ted says this is a great option. You need to work with people who’ve seen what the path back looks like. He also stresses patience and points to the regular coaching and guidance, not just once or twice a week, as a massive value.

Today, Ted is lifting again and closing in on the last stretch of his comeback, with a clear path forward that he didn’t have before.
