From Chronic Shoulder Pain to Lifting with Confidence: Her Shoulder Pain Story

By Published On: September 14, 2026

This client is a healthcare professional and mom who spent over a year and half struggling with shoulder pain. Like most people, her shoulder discomfort touched every part of her life. She remembers not being able to put on a jacket. At work, she avoided moving patients when she could. At home, she hesitated to lift her kids. In the gym, she held back from CrossFit because she didn’t want to make things worse.

After her first 12 weeks of rehab, she felt better. She could sleep without being woken by her shoulder. But she knew she wasn’t all the way there—maybe 60 to 70 percent. Overhead movements still didn’t feel right, and her confidence wasn’t back. She worried that returning to the gym too soon would undo her progress.

So she committed to another 12 weeks. Her goal was simple: feel like herself again, move without fear, and stop thinking about her shoulder all the time.

Early in that second phase, a video of her lifts revealed something important. The bar tilted because her right shoulder and arm weren’t where they should be. That small imbalance explained why her left wrist hurt during overhead squats and snatches. With that insight, her plan focused on rebuilding strong, even movement—especially the things she’d been avoiding at work and in the gym. The daily structure helped her stay consistent.

A few weeks in, she noticed a shift. The exercises stopped hurting. She felt stronger and more in control. She became more in tune with her shoulder and less worried about setting herself back.

Results: A Complete Transformation

Her strength returned—and then some. She hit clean and jerks at 90 lbs, close to her old max, and felt her foundational shoulder strength was better than ever.

Her confidence came back. She felt ready to return to the gym and do the things she loves without second-guessing every rep.

Her daily life got easier. She could put on a jacket, lift her kids, and move patients at work without thinking about her shoulder. Transfers from stretcher to bed no longer felt like a risk.

Her mechanics improved. With her shoulders working more evenly, the bar path looked level, and the wrist pain she used to get with overhead lifts went away.

She sums it up simply: it’s “so much different” now. She can do most things and doesn’t have to think about her shoulder anymore.

Her Advice to Others

She admits she tried to talk herself out of continuing because doing something every day is a lot. But she’s clear that stopping after the first 12 weeks would have left her stuck at 60 to 70 percent, unsure how to keep progressing. The second 12 weeks “drove it home”, it built strength, cleaned up her movement patterns, and gave her the confidence to get back to her life.

Her story is a reminder that getting out of pain is just the start. Real recovery is about building a strong, reliable foundation so you can move and live without fear.
